What instruments could I
use?
SYNC24 is used on many analog drum-machines and sequencers such as:
- TB303 - expensive synth/sequencer (but tres cool)
- MC202 - less expensive and more versatile synth/sequencer
- TR606 - a fine drum machine
- TR707 - a fine drum machine
- TR727 - a fine drum machine
- TR909 - an overpriced drum machine
- TR808 - an overpriced drum machine
- and more...
There are hundreds of MIDI devices that will operate. Lets think about
what cool ones you could work into your DJ sets:
- Yamaha QY10
- Gameboy: Nanoloop or, even better, Little Sound DJ
- SIDstation
- Akai MPC
- Atari ST
- General Midi files
- Rebirth
- MIDI equipped home keyboards (use the cool demo styles)
- the list is almost endless!
I thought of another use today - for people who use tracker programs (eg
FastTracker) and need to sync them to external MIDI devices for recording
as such like. You can get your external sequences in time using the tempo
control - and then record them directly into FastTracker with out extra
pitching/streching/intermediate recording etc etc.
I used it as a metronome for recording a guitar riff into the FastTracker
and it worked very well indeed.
