+----------------------+ |27.02.2003 17:06 | |gwEm | |gwem@preromanbritain.com| +----------------------+ Tonight I will be DJing 2 of my Atari STs at 'Jaguar Shoes', Kingsland Road, London. Please come along if you are in town as you will surely hear YM Rockerz tunes over a phatt PA. I will be using 2x1040STFMs with a Vestax DJ mixer. The connection is via some custom leads I made. The software I will use is PlaySID-ST (Abyss and Tao, this program is genius!), JAM (thanks again Cream), ProTracker (for amiga_style heavy metal) and MusicMon2 (just for my trax). Amazing that with a plain vanilla ST, play back of musics from the 3 major music platforms is possible. I have been practising hard and if you wanna know what I have to say about STjing just send me an email... But mainly I wish that JAM and PlaySID had stop and restart facility ;-> (actually I'm used to it now and can anticipate when the songs will finish loading and start playing). I have noticed that YM chip tunes need no EQ adjustment, but 8bit sample playback through the YM lacks bass. Also the YM makes a very loud signal, but it looks very quiet on level meters, so its hard to get volume levels right straightaway. Personally I can't wait to hear how mono 12kHz sample playback sounds over a big PA. Big up the DHS MOD archive, Fading Twilight, Exotica and the SND archive for tunes, I spent so long searching through them. I have noticed that the quality of the compositions for Atari ST easily beats the C64 scene. I wasted so much time on HighVoltageSidCollection listening to bad SIDs. Finding good Atari files was easy! I had trouble deciding what to leave out. Still searching for MegaSTs.... gwEm
